The Film

The film Apollo 13 was released in 1995 and was directed by Ron Howard. It stared Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, and Ed Harris. The film was adapted from the 1994 book Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13, written by Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger about Jim Lovell’s experience as commander of the Apollo 13 mission. The film primarily center’s on the mission itself with the major duration of the film centering on the seven days that Apollo 13 spent in space. The film also follows the Houston mission control center and the problem solving that occurred in trying to fix the many issues that went wrong with Apollo 13. Marilyn Lovell and the Lovell family also feature in the film as they deal with the anxiety of the mission.
